Nissan is to lose its Chief Creative Officer and Senior Vice President Shiro Nakamura, who is to retire on March 31st. The 67-year-old, an influential and well-connected figure in the industry, will be much missed. We recently interviewed him, and you can read that here.
His replacement at the helm of the company's design department will be Alfonso Albaisa, currently Executive Design Director at Infiniti. He'll take the title of Senior Vice President, Global Design.
And in an interesting move, replacing him at Infiniti will be ex-BMW man Karim Habib. The well-liked designer left the German brand rather suddenly in January, to be hurriedly replaced by Skoda’s Jozef Kaban. Habib's next moves may well shed some light on the recent state of things at BMW too.
