From the iconic sweeping curves of the bodywork to the luxurious, meticulously crafted style of the interior, Design has the responsibility for creating and delivering all visible parts of Jaguar Land Rover’s vehicles. Design’s multi-disciplinary team is made up of Interior and Exterior Designers, Engineers, Clay and Alias Sculptors, plus the Surfacing team. And while they may have many differences, together they share the same aim – to create the premium designs that will turn heads of millions right around the world.

Reporting to the Creative Director, Interiors, this newly created role will have responsibility for designing and shaping a world-class, beautifully British, user-centric experience for Jaguar Land Rover’s global customers. The role is fully integrated at the Heart of our Design Studio working seamlessly alongside the Interior, and Colour & Materials Design Teams.

The Chief Designer, Interface Design, will take ownership of the design appeal, and user experience inspiring key stakeholders right up to Director and Board Level.  You will ensure interior directions are responding to the requirements of contextual research and pushing aspects of user-experience, consumer trend and technology integration, whilst being sympathetic to Jaguar and Land Rover’s unique brand DNA.

The role requires a clear ability to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions through the highest of skills in illustration, aesthetic judgment and above all beautiful Design.

As well as the tactical side of UX/ UI Design, the role will also include a more strategic side, where you will act as a figure head for your department, ensuring a coherent working culture with the wider business. 


You will be degree-level qualification (preferably postgraduate) in Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Visual Design or a related relevant field, with extensive experience of working in a UX/UI design capacity, contributing to the full life cycle of digital channels.  Ideally, you will have extensive relevant experience within the automotive or consumer electronics space.

You’ll need to have global experience, with the ability to work in a truly global and matrix context, and be able to analyse and interrogate design aesthetic attributes and identify key trends.  It is imperative that you are creative and able to come up with new and innovative digital ideas and solutions to drive the continued creation of world-class products

You will have strong leadership skills, with previous management experience.  Sound judgement and confidence in the execution of ideas and findings is required, which will drive the creativity throughout the entire design team and global business.
