Vice President and Design Director
Leclercq studied product design in Belgium for four years before moving to the USA to realise his dream of studying car design at Art Center in Pasadena. During this time, he interned at BMW, then worked briefly at Zagato upon finishing his studies. This was followed by a stint of a little over a year working for Ford in Italy, at the Ghia studio, before moving to BMW, initially in California. During this time, Leclercq designed the second-generation X5, and moved to Munich to see the car put into production. This was followed by the design of the X6, also in Germany. In 2011, Leclercq was appointed head of design of BMW M, with the mission to increase the strength of the brand in preparation for BMW’s launch of its i sub-brand. In mid-2013, Leclercq left BMW to become vice president and design director at Great Wall Motors in Shanghai, which has given him the opportunity to create many new SUVs from scratch, including the Haval Coupe, Concept R and the Concept B showcars, which received much acclaim at their respective motor-show debuts.
