Workshop Model Making Technician
£31,272 - £33,974 p.a.

The Royal College of Art is the only wholly postgraduate institute devoted to the study of art, design, humanities and communications. It requires a skilled model maker with experience of model finish & model assembly, together with knowledge of design studio practice and/or automotive design practice.

This post has specific responsibilities to the School Workshop which advises students in the clay studio on resins, rubbers, clay modelling and surface preparation & finishing. You will be working with students from across the School of Architecture & Design: Design Products, Architecture & Design Interactions and the School of Production: Vehicle Design & Industrial Design Engineering.

The post requires someone with experience of supervising a workshop, together with excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of automotive modelling techniques & processes and experience of commercial model making would be an advantage.
