LA 2018: Porsche 911 (992)

30 November 2018 | by Karl Smith

Porsche introduced its 8th generation of the iconic 911 sports car on Wednesday, and the reaction, both positive and negative, was swift.

The car, which will be sold as a 2020 model, is larger and faster than the previous generation. Its front end is similar to last year's car, except for the larger, and squared-off mouth guard (with active aerodynamics). The wheel arches are more pronounced as well.

The tail lights have come in for considerable scrutiny. A single thin tail light bar runs across the back side of the car, replacing the dart shapes of the previous generation.

The 911 will have a longer wheelbase and wider track, as well as weigh in at about 120 pounds (~50kg) heavier.

There is a new interior as well, featuring a clean-with-screens dash inspired by the current Panamera, but it is the exterior that is getting all the attention at the moment.
