Volvo CE teases electric design signature

02 April 2019 | by Michael Gooderham

Volvo CE, which is in the process of electrifying their smaller vehicles, has posted a short video outlining a new design signature these will have.

As design director Gustavo Guerra explains, a new bracket-shaped headlight unit features a soft glow, inspired by the bioluminescent blue jellyfish found off Sweden’s west coast, which isn’t far away from the company’s base in Gothenburg.

This lighting detail inspired by local nature is described as being part of Volvo CE’s push for “human-centric design” – an approach that Volvo also takes towards its cars. Perhaps we will keep seeing more significant examples of this human-centric approach in the near future.
