Autodesk®VRED® software enables users to take digital data and more quickly create compelling, hyper-quality images, animations and real-time presentations that can be displayed on desktop computers, full-scale projections (Powerwall’s) and immersive devices (VR). VRED has helped to democratise visualisation, empowering designers and engineers with tools that support the visualisation, analysis and simulation of virtual data with greater accuracy. For many automotive companies it has fast become the go-to solution for visualising digital prototypes and the single source of truth for reviewing and approving design and perceived quality data. VRED provides stakeholder confidence to make better, more informed decisions on the virtual model and in turn helps accelerate time-to-market.
With the growth in applications of Virtual Reality (VR) in the automotive industry, Autodesk VRED continues to be a leader in high fidelity, real-time visualisation with the addition of VR Multi-User Collaboration. VRED was among the first to provide VR experiences with the support of Head Mounted Devices (HMDs) such as Oculus and Vive. In recent years, we’re witnessing design teams become increasingly distributed, working across geographies and time zones with a growing need for stakeholders to quickly and easily collaborate in order to resolve issues and progress projects.
To help address this need, Autodesk VRED 2019 Update 2 introduces VR Multi-User Collaboration, providing a simple and fast way to connect stakeholders anytime, anywhere in the world, to share ideas and collaborate around Designs in real-time. No matter whether you are a designer using a HMD, or an engineer working on a desktop computer (with no prior VRED experience); you can participate in a VRED VR Multi-User Collaboration session. It couldn’t be easier; the host VRED user simply sends a notification to participants inviting them to join a real-time Design Review session. All the recipients need to do is open the URL link to view the VRED scene, and they are free to interact with the model and collaborate with stakeholders in real-time.
VRED 2019.2 Multi-User Collaboration provides VR-specific features to improve the experience, including ‘teleportation’ capabilities, collision warning (when multiple users share the VR tracking space), and a laser pointer for highlighting areas of interest or concern. Interactions feel very natural and easy to use, there’s a menu containing pre-defined configurations, animations and viewpoints to help reduce preparation time, and commonly-used HMDs are natively supported.
VRED 2019 Update 2 Multi-User Collaboration helps designers and stakeholders make better, more informed decisions in real-time – no matter where you are in the world – helping reduce the need for physical prototypes and accelerate design development timescales.
With Autodesk VRED Virtual Reality has never been so easy!
