It’s shaping up to be a busy show at this year’s Auto Shanghai. Read on for the launches, concept, production or otherwise, and check back for updates while we are on the ground.
Audi
The German brand says it is placing a spotlight on models that position it as a leader in e-mobility ”while also remaining a strong player” in combustion-engine vehicles. Among other models, and in front of a packed audience, were the A5L, A5L Sportback, Q5L, A6L e-tron and the China-specific AUDI E5 Sportback. (All caps over here now, remember.)
Mercedes Vision V concept
Chess, reclining seats and karaoke. Get the full story here.
Zeekr 9X
Another release from the Geely-backed brand, designed in Gothenburg.
BMW
“The heart of joy” is a new form of vehicle control. We’ll learn more this week.
BYD Denza
An electric supercar is just what the doctor (in a hurry) ordered.
Volkswagen
Three more concepts, Andy? You’re spoiling us. Revealed at the show are the ID. EVO, ID. AURA, and ID. ERA, for which Volkswagen says it has “integrated the needs of Chinese customers into the design.”
Omoda/Jaecoo
The Chery sub-brands say they will make “a grand debut” with a new family of models: the C7 SHS, C5 SHS, and J5 BEV. Both are very much on a European offensive, but clearly not taking their eye off the home market either.
Porsche
Porsche revealed a new special edition 911 Spirit 70, the third of a four-part Heritage Design series.
We speak to Porsche’s head of Exclusive Manufaktur, Boris Apenbrink, for more information.
Read the interview here.
Geely Auto
The Galaxy Cruiser has made its debut at Auto Shanghai – a combination of Chinese aesthetics and off-road vehicle design.
Xpeng
Continuing full speed towards the AI revolution, Xpeng unveiled its latest breakthroughs in technology. And yes, that included a humaniod robot…
