Car Design News is in Milan for the launch of the new Lynk & Co 02
Good afternoon from Milan, where Lynk & Co has put on quite the spectacle to reveal its latest car, the 02.
The Geely sub-brand says its first fully electric vehicle was “designed with the community”, leveraging feedback from customers of its first car, the plug-in hybrid 01. Lynk & Co says it received some 6,000 messages to this effect, so there was plenty to work with.
While Lynk & Co is at pains to separate itself from sister brand Zeekr, the car was still developed in Gothenburg at the same studio alongside its peers. Visually, there are still similarities between the two, particularly with the light signature at the front. The silhouette also feels reminscent of the Zeekr X, and at a glance the interior layout is remarkably similar.
That being said, things do get quite different at the rear with a distinctive four-pronged tail light setup. Customers in Europe can place an order for the 02 now, while the same car will be sold in China as the Z20.
It should not be confused with the 02, a car revealed in 2018 with an identical name, produced by then head of design Andreas Nilsson (who moved to Nio Munich in 2021). This new car is the result of Stefan Rosén (of Volvo Cars fame prior) and his team.
We will report back with more.
