The updated model employs graphics and lighting to celebrate the six-speed manual transmission

Purist is the key word used throughout the marketing material for the new 911 Carrera T, and a mix of details have been used throughout the car to highlight this. Some are subtle, some far less so.

The side window, for example, features a bold, circular illustration of the six-speed manual box. This is mirrored by a floor light in the door, which projects the same image onto the ground.

Inside, the stubby gear lever is topped with open-pore walnut for a “visual and tactile experience” while – if you hadn’t figured this was already a manual after sitting in the car – an MT badge sits ahead of the lever. As a final flourish, the shift pattern logo is printed on the passenger side of the dashboard.

The ‘T’ stands for Touring and can be linked back to 1968 when the 911 was first homologated as a touring car. The 911 T was then produced up until 1973, and only rejoined the model range in 2017.
