A long-time General Motors designer is shifting from the world of luxury to the world of performance
Magalie Debellis has been appointed as design director for Corvette, Performance, Cars, and Crossovers Exteriors at Chevrolet.
The former Cadillac designer had worked on major projects such as the Celestiq, Lyriq, and more recently the Opulent Velocity concept.
During her time at Cadillac, Debellis also worked on motorsport models including the GTP Race Car Vision and LMDh V-series R Race Car.
”I’m excited about my new role and the opportunity to focus on performance. Designing high-performance vehicles, especially Corvettes, has always been a passion of mine,” Debellis told Car Design News. “I believe I can bring a fresh vision to the team, emphasising innovation and driving dynamics that resonate with enthusiasts. I’m eager to contribute to this iconic brand’s legacy!”
A graduate of Strate College, mastering in Transportation Design, Debellis would secure an internship with General Motors in Detroit and later a full-time position with GM working, as it happens, on the C7 Corvette exterior (as well as the Cadillac ATS interior).
After a few years in Paris with Citroen, Debellis would return to GM in 2013, based in Australia, before moving to Detroit. Her most recent position had been manager of advanced design for Cadillac. Debellis officially began the new role with Chevrolet as of 1 October.
